The world has changed a lot. And sometimes it can be really hard to figure out who you are, and where you belong. I get it. And I want to help you to get to a place where you feel stable.
I love providing therapy to children, adolescents, teens, young adults and adults. My treatment style is compassionate and direct. I create a safe and judgment free space where you can speak your truth. I care about my clients and I want them to see real change. I've created a space where my clients feel safe to be themselves.
I've been in the field for over 10 years. I've seen it all at this point. My experience working in inpatient settings helped me to understand clients who are feeling like their world has completely crashed down around them. As the manager of clinical services at an outpatient drug and alcohol program I honed my skills and helped clients to find relief from their struggles with addiction, physical health and mental health.
I have a special interest in trauma, substance use disorder, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence and issues of self esteem. When it comes to the types of interventions I use, I think it is important to not use a cookie cutter approach. No one person is the same as another so why should the treatment be? I bring in elements of Psychoeducation, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic and Motivational Interviewing dependent on the needs of the client. I often use art, music and play in my work.
Special message to my child and teen clients: I know for many of you therapy may be the last thing you want to do. I get it. I will do what I can to make therapy enjoyable, while also helping you to deal with whatever is going on in your life. Confidentiality is really important to me too. So you and I will decide together what I can and can't say to your parents. You're in charge.
Special message to parents and caregivers: Being a parent or caregiver can be really difficult sometimes. Especially when your kid is struggling and you can't fix it or make it better. I will support you and your child through this process. Sometimes that looks like you coming in for some sessions, or sometimes having family sessions. Together we will help create stability and change.
